Audit

The City's fiscal year end is June 30th of each year. After the annual audit, a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report is compiled. This report is available for public review at City Offices or may be viewed on-line.

Budget

Each Department Supervisor is responsible for compiling a budget for their department. After review by the City Manager and the City Treasurer, the budget is presented to the City Commission. The annual budget must be adopted by the City Commission by the 2nd meeting in May for the coming fiscal year.

Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The City of St Johns was presented, for the eighth straight year, this prestigious award for its' Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2007. This Certificate is presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada to government units and public employee retirement systems whose comprehensive annual financial reports (CAFRs) achieve the highest standards in government accounting and financial reporting.

Taxes

Taxes are levied July 1 and December 1 of each year. Approximately 3500 tax bills are mailed each tax season.

Utility Billing

Utility bills consist of water and sewer charges. The residential utilities are billed on a quarterly basis and are billed in arrears (resident consumes the water prior to being billed).

1st Quarter (Jan-Feb-Mar) is due May 22nd
2nd Quarter (Apr-May-June) is due Aug 22nd
3rd Quarter (July-Aug-Sept) is due Nov 22nd
4th Quarter (Oct-Nov-Dec) is due Feb 22nd
