Holiday Safety Reminders
- Don't leave Christmas lights on when not at home.
- Don't overload sockets and replace bad bulbs.
- Don't let bulbs touch anything that can burn easily, like paper
- Decorations made of light tissue paper or cardboard can burn easily.
- Don't put decorations immediately above or around a fireplace
- Keep decorations away from candles
- For live trees--keep water in the tree stand at al times. When the tree becomes dry, discard it immediately

Recreational Fires
Recreational Fires are permitted within the City limits. Residents are permitted to have small recreational fires for 'cook outs', roasting marshmallows, etc provided they are in a contained space. Residents may not burn rubbish, building materials, etc in these fires. Although burning permits are not required for recreational fires, a call to the Public Safety Office is appreciated. School Presentations
The men and women of the Fire Department will conduct a presentation on fire safety in the City of St Johns Schools. A School representative must request this program and it must be sanctioned by the School. For further details please call 989-224-2151

Tours
Tours of the Fire Station and Fire Trucks are conducted for groups of any size for local preschool, school classes, Scout groups, etc. Please call 989-224-2151 for further information on the arrangements needed for a tour.

Bike Rodeo
Mint Festival
Held the 3rd week every August. The entire City goes all out for the week-end event.
Fire Prevention Week--October
During Fire Prevention Week (the second week of October) Allaby & Brewbaker Insurance Agency sponsor safety presentations and fire truck rides for the 3rd grade students at all three St Johns Elementary Schools. National Night Out
Held the first Tuesday in august in the parking lot of the St Johns Lutheran Church at Sturgis Street and Business US 27. There are games fro the kids, hamburgers, hot dogs, City roller hockey finals and fun for all!!

Santa comes to town the first weekend in December!! Sponsored by the Clinton County Chamber the weekend is a gala event with Holiday festivities. Events will be posted at this site when they are released.

Touch - A - Truck Event
Touch It---Climb On It---Hop In It---
Kids of all ages can experience what big trucks are really like. This program is designed to allow children to explore big trucks of all types. Children are encouraged to get in and on the 'big trucks'! The drivers are there to answer questions from both the young and young at heart. Fire trucks, ambulance, police cruiser, tractors, bulldozers, large trucks and heavy equipment are all available for the curious to explore. Sponsored by the RESA and Clinton County Chamber this program is usually held in the Spring.

Volunteer Fire Fighter Applications
St Johns Fire Department is now accepting applications for Volunteer firefighters. Completion of Firefighter I and II preferred, but not required.
