Tyler Barlage was honored for service to the Community ~~
At the August 11th Meeting the City Commission honored Tyler for his seven years as the St Johns Downtown Management Board Director.Barlage resigned to devote more time to the St Johns Community Church, where he the Pastor. Pictured with Tyler is Mayor Dana Beaman.

CURRENT ROAD PROJECTS:
WALKER STREET PROJECT:
The City reconstruction project on Walker Street between Clinton Avenue and the BR US 127 has been completed. Work included the water main, storm and street reconstruction.

BR US 127 PROJECT:
This is a MDOT project. This work includes the water main, bridge, curb, gutter and street reconstruction. Work will continue on this project until late in the fall of 2008. CONDITIONAL RESCISSION OF A
PRINCIPAL RESIDENCE EXEMPTION (PRE)
THIS ENABLES A PERSON WHO HAS ESTABLISHED A NEW PRINCIPAL RESIDENCE TO RETAIN A PRE ON PROPERTY PREVIOUSLY EXEMPT AS THE OWNER'S PRINCIPAL RESIDENCE.
THE CONDITIONAL RECISSION ALLOWS AN OWNER TO RECEIVE A PRE ON HIS OR HER CURRENT PROPERTY AND ON PREVIOUSLY EXEMPTED PROPERTY SIMULTANEOUSLY IF CERTAIN CRITERIA ARE MET. AN OWNER MAY RECEIVE THE PRE ON THE PREVIOUS PRINCIPLE RESIDENCE FOR UP TO THREE (3) YEARS IF THAT PROPERTY IS NOT OCCUPIED, IS FOR SALE, IS NOT LEASED AND IS NOT USED FOR ANY BUSINESS OR COMMERCIAL PURPOSE.

The annual St Johns Mint Festival is held the second weekend of August each year and provides the entire family with an action packed weekend. Held at the City Park and County Fairgrounds, over 75,000 people attend activities of the festival such as arts and crafts, flea market, antiques and collectibles, softball, basketball and tennis tournaments, tractor pulls and children's activities. There is also free daily entertainment, a Mint Queen Pageant and mint information and foods.The festival begins Friday afternoon, and then kicks into high gear with the Grand Mint Parade on Saturday. Over 150 entries are highlighted in the parade. Don't forget to get your bowl of Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream at the festival!!
